It was the 1990's, after many years of being a casual photographer, when Alan happened to read an article in Life magazine about photographer Gordon Parks. The images that were pictured in the article were stark Black & White photos of ordinary people and the way they lived. Parks, with use of his camera, black & white film and the understanding of composition as well as light and shadow turned an ordinary scene into a work of art.
